The Weber Summit S-660 is also a built-in grill, and as you would imagine has many similarities to the Summit S-460 Built-In Weber grill, but offers a larger grilling surface.
Weber has increased the primary cooking area to 769 square inches and six stainless steel burners that provide 60,000 BTU-per-hour, each with the Snap-Jet burner ignition system. For this Built-In Summit grill, Weber included lighted control knobs and three “Grill-Out” handle lights. Features that provide versatility in your outdoor cooking include:
- 6,800 BTU-per-hour smoker burner
- Stainless-steel smoker box
- 10,600 BTU-per-hour searing station burner
- 10,600 BTU-per-hour infrared Rotisserie burner
For convenience Weber included a cookbook full of suggested recipes, a Limited Warranty, and a Heavy Duty Vinyl Grill Cover for the S-660 Built-In grill. At this time, Amazon has posted only three customer reviews for this new member of the Summit family of Weber grills, and the two reviews span from two four-star reviews to a one star rating. Liquid propane users found storage space on their S-660 Built-In units limited due to the space that the propane tank requires. This is not an issue with the Natural Gas version of the grill.
The Amazon.com user that gave the grill only one star had not yet cooked on the S-660 at the time of the review, but rated the Built-In gas grill solely on the stainless-steel “claim”, which was apparently the main reason for his purchase. Apparently in his location near the coastline, conditions are harsh on anything that stays outside. The customer expected that he was purchasing a stainless-steel gas grill that would hold up under these conditions. His complaint is that while some of the grill top and doors are solid stainless, much of the grill is a lighter grade of steel that he considers to be more like aluminum, and painted. Disappointed in the appearance, the user decided not to return it to avoid a re-stocking fee, plus shipping. He has not provided an update to his one-star review, so no one knows if he is using the grill or enjoying the meals being prepared.
On the other side of the rating scale, another Amazon customer found a lot to like about his Summit S-660 Built-In outdoor gas grill. He compares the thick grill bars to high-end competitor’s construction and enjoys the high-burning sear station. He purchased the liquid propane version of the S-660, and his review states that he experiences mostly even heat throughout the grill, however, the right burners where the propane tank enters the grill first seems to cook a little hotter. Overall, he likes his Built-In grill with rolling wheels that lock in place.
Buzzilions.com publishes four reviews for the Weber Summit S-660 gas grills. These reviews average just under a five-star approval rating due to the one four-star evaluation and three five-star opinions. The four-star review was submitted by another consumer that had not yet used the product, and simply commented on their observation that it looked like a good quality grill, with a promise to update their review after having a chance to use it. With that, the one-star review was not a real review at all.
One of the five-star reviews commented on some difficulty with assembly, however, their appliance delivery driver had some tips that made the process easier than the enclosed instructions. The other two Buzzillions.com five-star reviews indicated their fondness for the Weber Company and products, and the S-660 was living up to their expectations as a quality product where they could create delicious meals easily.
As a whole, available reviews highlight more positive remarks than negative. The following are examples of both:
